These terms apply to anyone using Echoes of the Past (ecosdopassado.com.br), in any of the site's three versions: English, Portuguese (Ecos do Passado), and Spanish (Ecos del Pasado). By browsing the site, you agree to them.

Content and rights

Quoting is welcome. You may quote short excerpts from an article, as long as you credit Echoes of the Past and link to the original article.
Republishing requires permission. Copying an article in full or in large part, translating it, or using our illustrations on another website, in a book or video, or on social media requires written permission. Ask through our contact page.

Informational purpose

Echoes of the Past is a popular history site: it tells stories to inform and spark curiosity. We work from sources and separate what is documented from what is hypothesis, but history is always being revised, and new findings may change what is known about a case. Our articles are not academic work. For research or schoolwork, consult the sources listed at the end of each article.

About the illustrations

The images in our articles are illustrations created for the site, to help you picture each case. They are not photographs or period records and should not be used as evidence or as historical documents. Each one is labeled as an illustration.

Using the site
